Sutu Palace
 
In the heart of the capital, across from University, there is a special building of all the houses around the Bucharest Museum. In Bucharest, it is better known as  "Palace Sutu”. Place made once part of vast property of Cantacuzin, gift of Matei Basarab by Elena, daughter of Radu Serban and wife of  Constantin Cantacuzino.
 
 The palace was built between 1833 and 1835, Sutu Palace is the work of Costache, obviously differs from all the buildings at that time Bucharest. Plans belonged to the viennese architects Johann Veit, and Schwink Conrad. The style is western  neogothic, with a floor and more rooms, with four polygonal towers, by both sides of the building. Imperial entry , high and wide, and large windows, contrasted with narrow entrances and windows of old Romanian houses. Main front and back how long each room  have a balcony. Later, Karl Stork, renowned sculptor and artist decorator, made monumental staircase in the lobby, which splits in two in front of huge mirrors fron  island of Murano. Above, a carved wood medallion shows the image Irina Sutu.
 
The palace was surrounded by a vast garden, with flowers and grass in abundance, where there are dwarfs of porcelain and peacocks walking. In front, a merry rippling fountain and in the back, on a marble console, was a solar watch, with a gun whose gunpowder ignite the action of sunlight, announcing midday. Large chunks of iron were holding two lions and a sun yellow metal shining. In those days, near the garden Sutu, there where peasant houses, at there  porch women spin.
 
Soon after marriage of Gregory Sutu with Irene  Hagi-Mosco, Palace began receiving guests. Receptions, soirees and balls shining, that turned night into day, gathered good people of Bucharest, the elegance and spirituality. Strausss's waltzes make both women and men to leave guided more by emotion than reason. Sutu and his wife were very welcoming. Were receiving all Sundays. During the carnival, had dances every Thursday. There were two big balls from which one with costumes. The ball of January 30, the birthday of Gregory Sutu, came even  Prince Carol.
 
The Palace was the location for  Bank Chrissoveloni, then for the C.E.C, then for  Institute of Construction and the Municipality of Bucharest. In 1958 it opened the Bucharest City History Museum in the same bulding. Right arm of the stairs leading to first room, in a typical indoor palaces and great houses of the high society of the nineteenth century. Romanian ceramic, glass, faience and porcelain from the East and West, Glasses with beaten Gems, brocade and velvet clothing, seals, weapons, paintings, prints, silver adorn the rooms following, where Irina and Gregory had had personal apartment Sutu.
