Nature reserves and monuments, Spas and Tourist Health Resorts of Bistrita-Nasaud county
The Rodnei Mountains National Park,
Biosphere Resevation, has a total surface of 40,400 hectares out of which 80% is on Bistrita-Nasaud county territory.
The
Calimani Mountains National Park , over 60 km wide, with a total surface of approximately 2,000 square km.
The Dendrological
Park in Arcalia, 17 km west of Bistrita, near the Arcalia village, it has a surface of 16 hectares, with more than 150 species of
trees and bushes from various parts of the world: silver fir tree, Caucasian spruce tree, Japanese acacia.
,,Piatra Corbului”
(The Raven’s Stone), geological and floral nature reserve, 5 km away from Budacul de Sus, in the Calimani Mountains.
,,Rapa
cu papusi” (The Cliff with Dolls), near Domnesti, geological nature reserve with various concretions shaped by nature over the geological
ages.
,,Rapa mare” (The Big Cliff), sear Budacul de Sus,20 km south-east of Bistrita, paleontologic nature reserve.
Other
nature reserves and monuments of nature: The Salt Mountain of Saratel, geological nature reserve, 12 km south-west of Bistrita, The
Glade with Daffodils in the Saca Massif.
Spas and Touristical Health Resorts:
Sangeorz Bai, 56 km from Bistrita and
31 km from Nasaud, it is a beautiful spa situated in a depression, at an altitude of 465 m, surrounded by volcanic knolls, covered
with beech forests. The spa has rich springs of ,,Hebe” mineral water, documentary attested since 1770. The climate is moderate continental,
sub-alpine, with chilly summers and winters deprived of frosts, the average temperature varies around 75C. Of the treatment facilities,
we can mention: devices for electro- and hydrotherapy, facilities for internal mineral water cure, devices for warm treatments with
mud and paraffin. Access: by train – the railway station Sangeorz Bai, on llva Mica-Rodna Veche line, by road - DJ 171 from Nasaud.

spas: Colibita-spa at an altitude of 830 m, 18 km away from Prundul Bargaului, on the right side of the Bargau Mountains, Piatra Fantanelor,
at an altitude of 1,100 m, near Tihuta Pass, a ski centre, Valea Vinulul (The Wine Valley) spa, at an altitude of 8oo m altitudine,
8 km away from Rodna.
